Can somebody explain to me how $439.45 of employment makes any sense?

In answer to TobyF, I'm guessing that since Monument Valley receives the most unemployment benefits of any city in Utah, and also considering the low population of 1,174, with the adjusted gross income being $25,664.36, $439.45 is most likely the average amount received per person receiving unemployment checks. I hope that helps. I appreciated the excellent statistics and valuable information provided by the author and found the article to be very well written and well researched.

That's what I get for not reading the headline. Thanks Caprice. I was interpreting it as unemployment numbers as opposed to benefits.
