Top 10 performances of Ty Detmer's BYU football career
One of two games in Detmer's final season to end in a tie, the Cougars and Aztecs battled to a standstill, but not before each team's quarterback broke the 500-yard barrier. In fact, Ty almost hit 600 yards, ending up with 31 completions on 54 attempts for 599 yards and six touchdowns. He led the Cougars back from a 28-point deficit for the tie, snatching a Holiday Bowl berth away from the Aztecs.

Thanks for the article and yes I remember those games including Utah, SDSU (tied) and Miami. Congratulations to Ty Detmer for enter the College Hall of Fame!
I remember many of those games well, many of which I saw live thankfully. I was at the U. game in person and it was Jim Fassell's last year there. The Utes defense was truly inept and BYU could have put up 100 points if they wanted to in that game...
Maybe Detmer wasn't the greatest pro but he has to be considered one of the greatest college players that ever lived. To see him and Marshall Faulk do battle was terrific.
Oh, such nice passing numbers. Seems like just yesterday that a certain BYU OC spoke about returning to the glory years of traditonal BYU offense & vertical passing attack. Silly me. I bought-in to the talk hook, line and sinker..... for about 3-4 games before it was obvious this particular OC was in way over his head.
