40 dark movies made for kids
The Hunger Games, a movie based on the blockbuster young adult books by Suzanne Collins comes out Thursday. The movie is based on the first of three books in a dystopian series about heroine Katniss Everdeen and her struggles to survive the titular games to the death held by a future totalitarian capital as a brutal reminder of its power over the rest of post-apocalyptic America, now called Panem. The Hunger Games series has sold more than 26 million copies in more than 40 countries. By any measure the books have been an unmitigated success and has spawned legions of young fans eager to see the movie, which was able to score a PG-13 rating despite the violent nature of the story. The Hollywood Reporter says that online ticket outlet Fandango reports almost 2000 screens are already pre-sold out.
With such dark subject matter, this excitement amongst young movie goers has a lot of people wondering if its good for kids. Time Magazine weighed in on the subject as did Deseret News columnist Carmen Rasmusen Herbert. But this isn't the first controversial movie aimed at youth. Movies like The Wizard of Oz, Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Nightmare Before Christmas are well known for pushing the envelope in the area of dark material for young audiences. Here are 40 movies that parents have been talking about for years - or will be.

Twilight is pretty much pornography, not for kids. not for anyone come to think of it.
Labyrinth is too scary? Really?
Most of these movies are NOT children's movies...Raider's of the Lost Ark should not be viewed by children and neither should Twilight. Parents need to wake up and say no to the media marketing violence and sex to their children.
