#1 Dec. 28, 2009 at McKale Center, BYU 99, Arizona 69

By Jim Rayburn

The national "who is this guy?" mumbling began in this game when Fredette shocked and impressed the McKale Center crowd with a BYU-record and Arizona-opponent record 49 points. He made 16-of-23 shots, connected on 9-of-13 shots from 3-point range, and sank 8 of 9 free throws. He scored 24 in the first half and 25 in the second half in handing the Wildcats their worst defeat in McKale Center history. He also had nine assists, seven rebounds and two steals.

My fondest memory of little Jimmer was when the Rebels squashed the little cougars last seasontwice. BYU is overrated. Until conference play, their schedule this year is comparable to high school ladies 3A basketball. Go Rebels.

I enjoyed looking at these and remembering what awesome things Jimmer has done for BYU basketball so far, but I have just one question... isn't it a little early for this?

First off i am a U fan, and cant stand byu and their fans. But i do enjoy watching byu's basketball team because they're actually good and its cool to see kids i played against in high school playing at the next level. Byu (baketball) is deserving of the national ranking they have. Its not to early i mean jimmer is a senior and he has had plenty of huge games with more to come. Jimmer is easily one the best players in the entire counrty. He can shoot lights out, get to the basket and once there finish as good as anyone, also he is a leader. So as much as i hate to say is go byu (basketball only) and more over go Jimmer.

What a surprise to hear from one of the brilliant minds at UNLV.

I guess you consider a RPI of 21 to be weak and wins over top 25 and top 50 RPI teams to be the weak as well.

This week alone we will play Vermont (6-1) RPI 40 and Arizona (7-1) ranked 26th by CBS Sport.

UNLV, on the other hand, hasn't played a RPI top 25 team yet.

Thanks for reminding us all of the high quality of fans UNLV has. Try reading the book "Smack Talk for Dummies" in preparation for your next attempt at being clever.

HONESTLY, I attended the Creighton-BYU game to watch Jimmer's skills and I WAS NOT impressed. They did not need to double team him and the defender that shadowed him gave him all sorts of fits. The defender was MORE ATHLETIC and faster which when I've seen Jimmer play has been his achiles heal, Jimmer is NOT FAST. All in all, I think he finished with 13 points. Needless to say, if I was defending him, I would put a fast athletic guard on him and he is done. When BYU starts to play real teams we will have a tough time ahead of us because the other players on our team are spotty at best when it comes to scoring.

Yeah, weak compared to UNLV - RPI of 10. I can make the same statement for UNLV "and wins over top 25 and top 50 RPI teams...as well."

Mark my words, come Jan 5th BYU will be running back to happy valley with its tail between its legs and a big L on its record.

I guess were the same high quality fans that BYU has. You know, the ones that posted the classy message on the jumbotron after the USU game. You must love Max Hall too.

One thing that is forgotten: BYU's win over Florida was largely due to a player, Loyd Jr., who wasn't Jimmer. He gets too much credit for that win.

haha, the only reason UNLV beat BYU twice last year was because UNLV gets homecourt advantage for every MWC tournament. Play the tournament at the Marriot and BYU would have beat UNLV twice.

This guy really needs a top ten list? Man you guys at D news must really love overhyping things. Lets see him carry byu to the final four and then you could give him a top ten list.

Yep you are right 'Not So Fast'

Jimmer did NOTHING in the Florida game. It was all Loyd.

Seriously... did you even watch the game?

Jimmer had 37 including 2 3s in Double OT. Give me a break. I love the BYU haters who turn their hate on the players. Gotta love the Jimmer-haters.

oh... and UNLV fans.. seriously? I know the economy is still tough down there, but did the newspapers go out of business as well? Why are you on a BYU comment board. I guess you need to come out of hiding after yet ANOTHER terrible football season. Before you rip the 6-6 BYU football team, remember this... 4 of their loses were to Top 20 teams, with a combined record of 51-7. AFA and USU were completely healthy when the played. USU when healthy were OK. They only lost to OU by 7. UNLV on the other hand is one of the 10 worst D1 football programs in the country. It is like a bye in football
