I think the title of the article is misleading. It has nothing to do with "profitable employees," but rather "profits per employee" which is a different thing entirely. After all, rank-and-file employees are neither directly responsible for the profit (determined by supply, demand and pricing), nor will they ever see much of it.
Sorry, that came off sounding more "occupy wall street" than I intended it to. :)
