The Green Bay Packers still look dominant. But there's a new team at No. 2 this week, and it's not who anyone would have expected before the season started. But with losses from the Patriots and Saints and another shaky performance from Baltimore, it's a pretty easy choice. Will they stay there? We'll see. Here are the top 10 NFL teams going into Week 9.

Alex Smith always had the talent, had no help.

Good job to the niners. I didn't see that coming.

Hard to believe the Texans didn't make the top-10 while the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals did. The Texans are continuing to win even without their best offensive player in Andre Johnson. The defense is missing Mario Williams but is still solid.

Houston currently ranks in the top-10 of the NFL in points scored per game (8th), yards per game (7th), points allowed per game (5th), yards allowed per game (3rd), and turnover margin (5th). It's all opinion, so no big deal, but I would definitely have them in over the Bengals at least.

But I thought Alex Smith was supposed to be the biggest bust in the history of sports?

It is finally fun to be a Niners fan again! Thanks Coach Harbaugh and Alex Smith!

It's kinda weird actually. Alex Smith is not putting up gaudy numbers. He has yet to eclipse 200 passing yards in a game. Yet somehow the 49ers are winning. I guess Jim Harbaugh is the real deal when it comes to coaches.

love the 49ers. strong defense solid running back good coach. But alex smith is not winning games, hes just not losing them. they are not putting much on him and thats what needed to happen. im not saying he cant be a good QB but he is far from it right now. He needs to have an offensive coordinator and head coach combo for more than one season so he can grow into the offense. they 49ers are solid team and will keep winning games but if they hope to make it to the big show Alex will have to keep developing so he can win a couple games. as of right now he doesnt do anything to lose the game, which is a far cry from being able to win the game.
