Utah tie: Played at Utah

Washburn, who wrapped up his four-year career with the Utes in 2012-13, participated in a workout for the Jazz last season but went undrafted. He also joined 27 players this summer for a free-agent minicamp hosted by the Jazz.

The center who averaged 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds his senior year at Utah has played in the pros the past season in Belarus and Ukraine. According to Sportnado, Washburn left the Chernasy Monkeys in February and was averaging 14.1 points and 6.3 rebounds with the team.

Having lived most of my life outside of Utah I am constantly amused by the apparent need here for validation and relevancy from the rest of the world. Is this media driven or a real need from the residents of Utah? Is it because they are worried that the rest of the world sees Utahns as weird or too LDS? Several of these "Utah Representatives" merely passed through the state and I'm sure they have no concept of representing "us" in the NBA.

This state has a lot to offer. I'd suggest we just be proud or who we are and what we have here.

I, for one, always enjoy 'tracking' the movements of kids that once played here (and by "here" I mean ANYWHERE within the sound of a Utah Sports radio station or Newspaper coverage area.

It doesn't "validate" me in any way; nor do I need it to ....... Nut it's always interesting in much the same way as the "where are they now" segments do
