Lohaus was originally taken with the 22nd pick in the second round (45th overall) by the Boston Celtics. He was a serviceable big man who played 11 seasons with the Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors. His most productive season came in 1989-90 when he split time between the Bucks and Timberwolves. That season, Lohaus averaged 9.2 points, five rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 blocks in 80 games (41 starts).

For his career, Lohaus averaged 5.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 656 games (116 starts).
