How about UC Santa Cruz' Mascot

Kirtland, NM

I understand we are talking about college team mascot names. However, my high school alma mater has this team: The Farmington Scorpions.

Mountain View, CA

Agree, the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs is awesome. I especially love their slogan: No known predators!

Salt Lake City, Utah

In West Virginia there is a little town by the name of Poca. Yep....they are the Poca "Dots!"
When a football player makes a good play, he gets a Dot sticker for his helmet.

How about the UC Irvine Anteaters?

The Life University Running Eagles is simply priceless. Ever seen an eagle run? But that name brings up a good possibility for a local school. Since the Utes are all about changing things right now (like their fight song), maybe they ought to go all the way and become totally politically correct. They could become the Utah Runnin' Peregrine Falcons. And they wouldn't even have to change their mascot.

Provo, UT

Also how about the Evergreen State College, the Geoducks, plus scorpions is the mascot of some small University of Texas school, can't remember the school. But personally I think the reporter really missed on the Banana Slugs.

Mont Belvieu, TX

How could they forget the Rocky Mountain Oysters? http://www.oystersbaseball.com/

Your team is not a college or university....

The Buffalo Wild Wings. Seeing the mascot alone is worth the price of the game tickets.

Provo, UT

Jordan Beetdiggers anyone?

Ogden, UT

My vote goes to a high school team -- the school mascot for my husband's high school was the Kangaroos.

Bountiful, UT

The Saint Louis arch is missing from this list.

Salt Lake City, UT

I'm surprised the Salt Lake City Bees are not on the list. The name might sound perfectly normal to Utahans, but the rest of the country, not knowing the state's history, find it strange, even comical.
