Arequipa will be home to the third temple in Peru. There are more than a half million Latter-day Saints in Peru, and those living in Arequipa have been traveling nearly 500 miles to attend the temple in Lima, according to a 2012 DeseretNews.com article.

President Thomas S. Monson announced plans to build the temple in the October 2012 General Conference.

Arequipa is the second most populous city in Peru.

I always knew we had so many things in common with Paris and Rome. Now they'll be even more like Provo!

Unlike most articles in the newspaper, this article and pictures makes me feel happily refreshed and energetic.....exhilaration.

An exhilarating feeling originating from an unseen parallel earth.

The picture of the 'Disney' castle looking structure with this article says it all.

A little better picture of the area of Afton, Wyoming is in order, I believe.

Thanks for the photos of the buildings under construction.

Hutterite - What exactly does it say? Maybe something like "Dreams do come true" and "The happiest place on earth for families" Yep, I agree.

I remember when the Washington DC Temple was the newest Temple.

I was home teacher to a semi-active family -- husband, wife, and two-year-old son. They had a magazine with a full-page picture of each Temple.

The little boy and I had fun looking at the pictures. I would name each Temple, and he would repeat after me.

In just a few weeks, he could see any Temple picture and name it! I was happy, and his parents were tickled pink.

That family was sealed in the Temple, and had three children born in the covenant. The little boy grew up to serve an honorable mission. If his firstborn son is not already on a mission, he will be soon.

We have more Temples under construction now than had been built back then. I am overwhelmed.

I have a question. A long time ago I remember reading this prophecy, but I have never heard anyone mention it in all my years in the church, so I am wondering if I really read this or not. I want to say it was in the Church News when the Denver, Colorado temple was dedicated but I could be totally wrong. I also want to say that the prophecy was by Heber C. Kimball.

The prophecy said that before the Savior returned there would be hundreds of temples dotting the earth. As a kid and into adulthood, I have followed the number of temples pretty closely. It looked like hitting 101+ temples was a long ways off, but as we now know that target was surpassed back in 2000. Can anyone tell me if there was such a prophecy and who said it and what exactly the prophecy said?

It was Harold B. Lee who said it, but yes. “During his administration, President Lee visited the Holy Land, the first Church President in this dispensation to do so. He also announced that smaller temples would now be constructed and would eventually dot the world." (from D&C and Church History Student Study Guide, President Harold B. Lee; A Giant Redwood.)
