Prep editor James Edward’s bracket: Loss to Orem in quarterfinals

Edward’s evaluation: There weren’t many teams more entertaining to watch this season than Kearns, but that up-tempo style often doesn’t translate to success at state. Winning at state is all about defense and valuing possessions. At times Kearns did that this year, but other times it didn’t. To knock off Spanish Fork in the opener and then perhaps Orem beyond that, the Cougars will need to play some of their smartest basketball of the year.
