The Cougars needed a miracle when they trailed TCU by eight points with one minute remaining in regulation. BYU got several, outscoring the Horned Frogs 11-3 in that minute, including 3-pointers from Brock Reichner and Rashaun Broadus sandwiched around a layup by Broadus. After TCU's Chudi Chinweze hit 1 of 2 free throws to put the Horned Frogs ahead 72-69, Lee Cummard hit his second trey of the night, with 10 seconds remaining in regulation, to force overtime. In the extra session, the Cougars pulled away, winning by nine in what became known as the "Marriott Center Miracle."

I am surprised there is no mention of the UCLA/BYU game played in Provo in March, 1965 in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The drive to win. Greg Ballif got way too little credit in this game. He's the reason we were close in the second half. Ainge really didn't have a great game but for the last play, as awesome as it was. A lot of future, long time NBA players on the floor that day...

What, no Congdon, Raymond, Fairchild, Liimo, Eakins, Cosic, Nemelka, et. al. mentions? As usual, "Top This and Top That" lists have very short memories and seem to cater to those of young & recent vintage. Except for maybe Danny Ainge, this one's no different.
