Editor's note: While these yearly capsules include realistic possibilities, these are not predictions — they're exaggerated and fictional scenarios.

Reasons for optimism: See prediction No. 7 for prior season.

Projected starting five: PG-Emery (Sr.), SG-Haws (Jr.), SF-Seljaas (Sr.), PF-Dastrup (Jr.), C-Mika (Sr.). Also challenging for minutes: PF-Shaw (Sr.), PF-Hartsock (Sr.), SG-Toolson (Jr.), PF-Nixon (Jr.) and PG-Jackson (Fr.).

Biggest question mark: Will the team take success for granted?

Predictions: 1) Survive a surprisingly competitive first round NCAA Tournament game against Weber State. 2) Beat Utah State in the second round. 3) Overcome Utah in the Sweet 16. 4) Blow out Kansas State to get to the Final 4. 5) Stomp Florida to get to the title game. 6) Beat Connecticut by seven to win the national championship.

Nate. I enjoyed the article. It's fun to daydream.
I can only hope this comes true.

One thing at a time, it would be nice to beat Utah again this year. I'm not sure BYU will win that game. Where is that guy who last week said the cougars would only lose 4 games this year. I still think that they may have number 4 this week and if not this week, it will be against Oregon.

Ridiculous!!! They're not going to lose NEAR as many games as you've postulated!!

Very fun read. Great Job. Hope some of these things come true. Its definitely possible.

Utah PAC 10 champ and beat BYU? What a joke!
