Following the beating of a left-wing activist by members of Golden Dawn, a neo-Nazi party, the public sector of Greece effectively shut down for two days of protesting.

Tensions between the left-wing and Golden Dawn increased when an anti-racist, left-wing rapper was stabbed to death by some 30 members of Golden Dawn. Mass protests have been organized in his name.
