Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater waved off the punt unit during the team’s Sept. 7 win over Eastern Kentucky and got chastised for it.

“I told him to get off the field,” coach Charlie Strong told media afterward. “We have enough coaches on the field. We have enough coaches on staff. The punt team is coming. You don't send them off the field."

BYU’s Jim McMahon successfully turned back the punt team in the 1980 Holiday Bowl, which led to the Cougars posting their first postseason victory.

So occasionally it works.

Sorry, Teddy, but Rock On knew Jim McMahon. You’re no Jim McMahon.
