In an unexpected move, former Jazzman Andrei Kirilenko will join the Nets, but will take a big pay cut after turning down a player option with Minnesota. Instead of taking the T'Wolves option of $10.2 million, he will reportedly sign a mini-midlevel exception of $3.1 million to play for the Nets.

Having just traded for Pierce and Garnett, while shedding themselves of Gerald Wallace, Kris Joseph and the expiring contract of Kris Humphries, the Nets have made themselves contenders in the East.

With most of the major pieces in place, look for the Nets to bring in one or two free agents to act as role players and provide additional depth.

I hope the Jazz know what they're doing.

The Jazz clearly know what they're doing. They need to extend the contracts of Hayward and Favors this summer - and they have now done what they need to do to assure both that their best opportunity is with Utah. They have also created enormous flexibility for themselves, with two 1st round draft picks in the talent-heavy 2014 draft. While the young guys learn the ropes this year, if we make the playoffs - great start! If we don't, we could get Jabari Parker or another stud, and can be a big player in the talent-laden 2014 free agent market.

No lose scenarios all around, with a lot of flexibility and an eye to the future.
