Top 10 players to watch at BYU spring practices

Craig Bills, 6-foot-1, 209, safety Next List » 10 of 10 « Prev
Bills ended last season as the team's starter at free safety and is likely to reprise that role this season. With a year under his belt the Timpview High product should make huge strides this spring with the hopes of establishing himself as a team leader.

Bills is one of the hardest-hitting safeties you'll find and he should pose an intimidating duo along with strong safety Daniel Sorensen.

KVN/Hoff want 0-4 against UTAH

This senior class has a chance to do something very unique in the former rivalry. Van Noy, Hoffman, and the other seniors wont know what it feels like to beat your rival.

I wonder if future recruits will want to go play for a team that goes 0-4 against their rival or a team that goes 4-0 against their former rival. I add "former" in the latter case, as currently we are just 1-1 against our current rivals, Colorado.

I do see byu competing with navy to be the second best independent in the nation however. #2 would be a great accomplishment!

@HVN: Nice to note you picked the team at the bottom of the pack to be your rival. It's good to set your sights high.

Most obvious with Sorensen were his mechanics during misses. He repeatedly brought his foot across his body rather than straight ahead the way a soccer kicker is supposed to. In doing this he repeatedly kicked the ball low and to the left. Those are serious mental mistakes and habit forming errors that are difficult to break once a kicker gets into that rut. Sorensen has his work cut out for himself. He surely had the leg years ago. Maybe the best thing for him would be to study films of himself before last year. No matter what, if he isn't getting it done, I would rather see a guy who hits consistently from 37 yards in than one with a booming leg that splits the sideline and end zone seats rather then the uprights.

really thought the ute fans would stop posting on our articles a long time ago! Get a life, this is sping practice. I can understand some chatter a week or two before our game, but this is ridiculous. Get a grip

What are the other things you would rather be? Hmmm, home for Christmas? Yeah, get used to that.

I am inclined to doubt that "KVN/Hoff want 0-4 against UTAH" is a real Utah fan. No Self respecting Utah fan would claim one of the worst FBS teams in the country as a new Rival. Maybe its a USU fan taking a shot at both BYU and Utah (though Aggie fans usually don't troll until it is close to the actual game).

Either way, BYU is going to be 2-0 against in state teams (unless they face the Utes in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, then they will be 3-0).

These ten could lead us to undefeated.

@KVN/Hoff - "we are just 1-1 against our current rivals, Colorado."

First congrats on being 1-1 against the worst team in the PAC. U should be proud. Lol.

And second, don't rivalries have to be two sided? I have yet to see you or Chris B or Navy Vet or Uteology or Ernest or Mildred or any of the other Utes who troll BYU articles post a single comment in the Denver Post about about the Buffs. So I don't think U consider them rivals.

And I know they don't consider U rivals. Colorado just re-signed a six year deal to play Nebraska. The comment board lit up. Everyone in Boulder considers the Cornhuskers as their rival.

As for the article, QB will be the most interesting development. I think Hill, Munns and Olsen all have a shot at being the starter. Hill's running game will be less important to Anae than it was to Doman. He needs to prove he has an arm.

Salt Lake City, UT

Nice to have this caliber of player and person represent BYU. They are winners whatever the football record. NC Alabama has a different metric.

Lindon, UT

Gonna be a fun season. Go Cougars!
