In early February, an LDS missionary in San Bernardino, Calif., helped save a life by pulling the bloodied pilot from fuel-soaked wreckage after a twin-engine Beechcraft plane crashed.

The LDS Church's humanitarian outreach included the donation of large amounts of physical goods to refugees of Japan's earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster, as well as a substantial cash donation to the Japanese Red Cross.
