High school boys basketball: 2A tournament capsules
2012-2013 Schedule
Coach: Ryan Judd (1st year)
How qualified: Tied Waterford for fourth in Region 14 with a 3-7 record, but won play-in game to claim No. 4 seed.
Playoff opener: vs. Enterprise, Saturday, 10:30 a.m. (At Orem High School)
Best preseason victory: A 47-38 win against Legacy on Nov. 30
Most important region victory: A 66-60 win against Rowland Hall on Feb. 8.
Top contributors
#4 Alex Millet, Sr., Forward (14.2 ppg)
#23 Mufi Hunt, So., F/C (10.9 ppg)
#3 Christian Mason, Sr., Guard (7.2 ppg)
#25 Robbie Hutchins, So., Forward (6.2 ppg)
#30 Grant Smaellie, Sr., F/C (3.2 ppg)
Scoring offense: 47.4 ppg (21st in 2A)
Scoring defense: 58.7 ppg (18th in 2A)
Last state championship: None
Prep editor James Edward’s bracket: Loss to Enterprise in first round.
Edward’s evaluation: Beat Rowland Hall twice in six days — including Wednesday’s play-in victory — to punch its ticket to the state tournament. It will likely be a short stay as Waterford is the lowest-scoring 2A team in the playoffs, and it typically gives up a bunch of points as well.

With all due respect to James Edward, because he knows far more about prep sports than the other state paper does, leaving Momo Diop of the list of top contributors from Wasatch Academy shows that he has not seen the Tigers play. But then, since he lists only 5 players per team, I would have also complained if he left Garrett Crosby off the list.
