After trailing by 20 points at halftime, the BYU women’s team comes back to stun No. 14-ranked Utah 57-50 in the MWC semifinals. The game was tied at 50 when Erin Thorn hit a big 3-pointer with 58 seconds left to put the Cougars up for good. The Cougars’ defense held the Utes to just 10 points in the second half.

Those were some great moments, all 10 of them. Nick Jacobson hitting that 3 is still one of my very favorite Ute basketball memories. It also was probably the last time a play was called on a last possesion of a game. Ya see, Boylen does not have a last possession play, Utah has lost over three dozen games due to this. Boylen's play is throw the ball in, dribble all over the place, whomever has the ball can't seem to find anyone to pass the ball to, and then a prayer is launched, sometimes not even at the right basket. Oh I long for the days of when "butter" was called.

In Boylen's defense, the Utes haven't had a quality outside shooter like Jacobson in quite a while.

BYU never seems to do very well in the MWC tournament.
