The LDS Church continued to see growth in 2012.
Eight new missions were created in March.
In July, the church was granted official status in Italy.
Earlier this month, the organization of a new stake in Sierra Leone by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve was not only significant because it was the first in that Western Africa nation, but it also marked the 3,000th stake in the entire church. First stakes were also organized in two other countries: Cape Verde (an island nation 350 miles off the coast of West Africa - their new stake presidency is pictured left) and India.

No mention of Mormons Building Bridges? They brought tremendous positive exposure to the LDS Church and, as befits their name, built bridges to communities that have previously harbored antagonism towards the church. Many hearts were changed and attitudes towards the LDS were improved by their actions.
