I am jackpotting around typing this comment, but I am going to miss Jerry Sloan. He's an institution, solid as a John Deere tractor.

I've kept watching the Jazz because of Stockton and Malone, and Larry Miller, and Jerry Sloan. Each era has transitioned.

Jerry Sloan has my utmost respect, far more than Phil Jackson, who piggy-backed off of 3 star players and that model is being repeated in Miami.

After listening to the news broadcast on a radio station and the following comments after, in regards to the times Jerry has had words with Deron, I am wondering how much the Jazz organization will take from Deron. If it is true that their latest blowup pushed Jerry over the edge, wherein he resigned, maybe we will see AK resigned at a reduced salary and Deron traded. I guess we will see what we will see. There are primadonas, and there are primadonas who are back-stabbers. Hope Deron is not one of those!

One of my favorite Sloanisms that didn't make the list was, "We don't need another shooting guard, we've got plenty of those. We need a making guard". Sorry, but I can't produce the date/circumstances of the quotation, but I remember hearing it several years ago. It's stuck with me ever since.

One time after he won the NBA coach of the month award Hot Rod asked him how it felt. He answered in his dry sincere voice, "Well you know Hot Rod, I've been doing cartwheels all afternoon about that award." For a split second I saw a look in Hot Rod's bloodshot eyes similiar to Cousin Eddie in Christmas Vacation.
"You serious Clark?" or "You serious Jerry?"
The man will be missed. I hope he gets alot of Jackpotting around the farm in.
I am guessing he will pull a Stockton and we won't see him around much anymore. Guys like that just don't need the limelight, much respect!

Love these photos. And yes, if there is a statue of Jerry, an open mouth would complete it. He's been a great coach. It is the end of an era, and hopefully the start of a new one, especially if Jeff Hornacek is part of it. Kind of ties it all together. I hope Jerry can actually ENJOY retirement! I have a feeling that if Greg Miller went to Jerry Sloan and asked him about putting a statue in front of the ESA-Jerry would run him over with a tractor. I know the Millers, Mr. O'Connor and many Jazz fans wish they could turn this into a "stay sweet" "everybody loves everybody" situation, but it can't be undone. This--my dear fellow Jazz fans--is a train wreck.

I am surprised no one has said anything about "playing backwards." That was always one of my favorites when something happened to upset the team, they could not move past it and get their heads back in the game.
