Statewide Rankings – Dec. 2, 2013
|Lone Peak||3-1||With T.J. Haws back and Zach Frampton and Spencer Curtis ready to assume starting roles, don't expect a big drop off for the three-time 5A champs.
|American Fork||4-1||Semifinalists a year ago, the Cavemen will lean heavily on big men Ryan Andrus and Tyler Rawson.
|Bountiful||3-0||Led by BYU-bound Zach Seljaas and Utah State-bound Sam Merrill, the Braves will be extremely tough to beat all season.
|Alta||3-0||Four of five starters return from last year's 5A runner-up team, and that experience gives the Hawks hope of competing for the 5A title.
|Orem||0-3||With three returning starters and an increased hunger after last year's early 4A playoff exit, Orem might actually be a scarier team a year later.
|Davis||3-1||With returning starters Abel Porter and Jesse Wade in the backcourt, there's no shortage of optimism and excitement at Davis.
|Olympus||2-1||A new era of Olympus basketball begins this season, and the Titans will lean heavily on Jake Lindsey and Alec Monson.
|Wasatch Academy||5-0||Returns three starters who averaged in double figures last season, and the Tigers are good enough to compete with just about any team in Utah.
|Brighton||2-2||All five starters graduated from a year ago, but juniors Brock Miller and Osa Masina are anxious to take over the reigns.
|Pleasant Grove||2-1||With eight players returning with varsity experience, the Vikings are ready to hit the ground running in ultra-competitive Region 4.
|Logan||4-0||A year after sneaking up on No. 1 Orem in the 4A first round, the Grizzlies will have a target on their backs in 4A all season.
|Timpview||1-2||New coach Kevin Santiago inherits an athletic team that will be led by football hero Britain Covey.
|Riverton||2-2||Missed the playoffs a year ago and only returns one starter, but the 'Wolves started the year with a bang by beating rival Bingham.
|Highland||1-1||Lacks size and experience, but should be a good shooting team at all five positions this season.
|Layton||2-1||The Lancers missed the playoffs a year ago, but with senior center Mike Hibbert back this season the Lancers will be a factor in Region 1.
|Syracuse||1-3||Opened the season with a solid victory over Roy last week in the debut of new coach Troy Anderson.
|Viewmont||3-2||Took some lumps a year ago, but the Vikes return three starters and should compete near the top of Region 1.
|Bingham||4-2||It will take Bingham some time to adjust to new coach Jake Schroeder, but once it does the Miners will be competitive in Region 3.
|Roy||4-1||Lost its opener to Syracuse without Brekkott Chapman, but will be a factor in 4A once he returns.
|Woods Cross||4-0||Despite no returning starters, players like Luke Jowers and Xequille Harry should have no problem slotting into increased roles and being productive.
