The Wasps rolled into the championship game by making 11 3-pointers, three each from Brennan Hallows, Taylor Woodruff and Mike Pelo. Pelo led the way with 16 points and four assists.
By building a big 19-point lead early in the quarter, the Wasps were able to get some of their junior varsity players some valuable state tournament playing time. Mike Pelo finished with 16 points to lead Wasatch, which advances to Saturday night's championship at 7:30 p.m.
Wasatch coach Lonnie Magnusson said his team always has one bad quarter, and that quarter was obviously the third tonight. Wasatch only made 3-of-10 field goals in the quarter and committed four turnovers, but all three shots were 3-pointers by Hallows, King and Pelo.
The Wasps continued their hot shooting in the second quarter knocking down three more 3-pointers and opening up a 32-16 lead. Logan committed 12 turnovers in the first half, including seven in the second quarter.
Mike Pelo hits two 3-pointers and Taylor Woodruff adds another at the first quarter buzzer as the Wasps jump out to a 17-9 lead over the Grizzlies. Logan has made just 3 of 12 shots in the first quarter. Brennan Hallows also has a first quarter 3-pointer for Wasatch.
