- Scores & Schedule
Alta advances to the championship game yet again following a golden goal by reigning Ms. Soccer Kealia Ohai. The teams appeared headed to a shootout when Ohai broke free on an assist by Alexa Pulley and scored in the 95th minute. Freshman goalkeeper Elyssa Hashimota, filling in for the injured Tashia Long, posted the shutout. Alta faces Davis Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium at 7 p.m. for the title.
1st min -- We're not even 30 seconds into this one and Kealia Ohai already has a shot on goal. Ohai cut in and lofted a ball from five yards outside the area.
11th minute Mikayla Elmer had a takeaway and fired it into the 6th where keeper Tasha Long collected it. It is really the closest that the Silver Wolves have come in the attack.
30th minute Ohai has a similar play to the opening minute shot where she cuts back into the middle from the left and fired a right-foot shot from about 25 yards. Saved by the keeper
Better correct an earlier post. Alta's keeper is Cassity Cutler is in goal for the Hawks. Not sure what is the status of their regular keeper Long.
36th Taylor Ivins goes on a counter attack, but is stopped cold on a nice defensive play by Kelsea Godfrey of Alta
While Alta has had more of the play in the opening 40 minutes, it is still anyone's game. The Silver Wolves have created just the type of scenario they needed to pull the upset with a defensive-minded match. Kealia Ohai has been held in check, and there were not a lot of real quality scoring chances on either side.
Let's try one more time. The Alta keeper is Elyssa Hashimoto. This time we are certain of it. Apparently, Long was injured in the closing minutes of the game against Layton and was questionable coming in and remains so for Friday should Alta advance.
49th NEAR MISS!!! LaChere Earl feeds Taylor Ivins, who fires a shot that just goes over the crossbar.
55th Another near miss. Ohai takes a ball toward the middle of the box and fires a shot just wide right.
59th Michele Murphy had a shot from near the penalty spot, but ripped it over the top
70th Ohai tracks down a ball in the corner and sends it to the middle where Taylor Campbell just misses getting her head on the cross.
77th Ohai has a header from inside the area sent in by Alexandra Pulley. The ball goes just over the top.
End of regulation
We're headed to overtime after neither team could find the back of the net. The format is two 10-minute overtimes with a golden goal format.
85th Ohai dribbles nearly the length of the field and hits a shot wide.
end of first OT
GOAL 95th minute Kealia Ohai ends it with a golden goal. She races onto a through ball and calmly rolls it on by the onrushing keeper to the back of the net sending the Hawks to Rio Tinto for Friday's championship game against Davis.
