Panguitch freshman Darri Frandsen, who averaged just 6.6 ppg game this year, scored a career-high 25 points to lead Panguitch past Monument Valley in the opening round of the 1A state tournament. Monument Valley led by as many as eight points in the first quarter, but the Bobcats outscored the Cougars 29-14 in the second and third quarter to pull away for the win. Monument Valley got in foul trouble early, and Panguitch capitalized by making 18 of 32 free throws. Panguitch's Carly Holman chipped in with 16 points, while Destinee Holiday led Monument Valley with 20.
