Deseret Digital Media
Deseret Digital Media (DDM) is a newly created, online division of Deseret Management Corporation that will manage the digital assets of DesertNews.com, KSL.com, Mormontimes.com, LDSChurchNews.com, DesertBook.com, and Gospelink.com. The sites collectively reach over 4 million unique users with over 200 million impressions each month. The organization has a uniquely spiritual mission and seeks to be strategic to its Church ownership.
System and Network Administrator — The System and Network Administrator will be responsible for the hardware and software infrastructure that runs the digital assets at DDM. He or she will report directly to Stephen Tolman, Vice President of Technology for Deseret Digital Media. The Administrator should have 5-10 years of experience with managing and maintaining a critical IT infrastructure in a very dynamic environment.
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
Ability to install, setup, maintain, update and patch a large cluster of Linux servers
Architect infrastructure expansion to fit a rapidly changing environment
Maintain mySQL master-slave replicated cluster and a knowledge of XML
Working knowledge of Linux and network best practices and security vulnerabilities
Proactive and aggressive with monitoring, performance analysis & troubleshooting
Proficient with the command line, shell scripting and programming experience
Monitor and maintain network operations and security
Aggressively maintains skill set by reading books, forums and blogs on related topics
On-call 24/7 in a "highly available" environment
Qualifications:
Experience administering and tuning a LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
Willingness to learn new and emerging technologies
Experience with Sun Solaris would be a plus
Experience with Cisco IOS on routers, switches, load balancers & firewalls
Understanding of network protocols such as DNS, BGP, IPMI, SNMP, TCP, UDP and SMTP
Proficient using general diagnostic tools (ping/telnet/traceroute/etc...)
Experience with memcached
Experience with FAI (Fully Automatic Installation)
Team player with a positive attitude who enjoys working with others
Strategic thinker with analytical and operational skills
Goal-oriented person with high personal drive, integrity and energy
BS required or equivalent experience
5-10 years of experience with managing and maintaining a critical IT infrastructure

Lead Web Developer — The Lead Web Developer will be responsible for development, design, and maintenance of DeseretBook.com and Gospelink.com. The candidate would become a part of the DeseretBook.com team; collaboration and teamwork are a must. There are and will continue to be new and expanding products in the Deseret Book portfolio as well as other DDM online products.
The ideal candidate needs to have experience with high traffic web sites, excellent communication skills, and is willing and excited to learn new skills and technologies.
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
Work with Deseret Book stakeholders on needs and design requirements from Web Marketing/Sales, Support Center, Buyers, Publishing/Wholesale, etc. in the continued web development and data architecture creation for DeseretBook.com
Perform code development life cycle from design, create, review, test and deployment
Maintenance of existing enterprise web applications
Primary responsibility is back end development, but applicants must have some front end experience working with designer on HTML implementation
Ability to work independently in addition to collaborative work on large projects with team members, including users, administrators, designers, and other developers
On-call 24/7 in a "highly available" environment
Qualifications:
Experience developing with MVC frameworks using Rails and OOP
Ability to administer web deployments on Linux with Apache
Strong relational database experience (PostgreSQL a plus)
Familiarity with PCI security standard and web security best practices
Understanding of ecommerce design principles for usability and SEO
Experience in HTML, CSS, XML, SOAP, JavaScript, AJAX
Team player with a positive attitude who enjoys working with others
Strategic thinker with analytical and operational skills
Goal-oriented person with high personal drive, integrity and energy
BS in Computer Science or related field preferred
2 or more years of professional experience with Rails

Web Developer PHP/MySQL — The Web Developer will be responsible for development, design, and maintenance of DeseretNews.com. The candidate would become a part of the existing DeseretNews.com team; collaboration and teamwork are a must. There are and will continue to be new and expanding products in the Deseret News portfolio as well as other DDM online products.
The ideal candidate needs to have experience with high traffic web sites, excellent communication skills, and is willing and excited to learn new skills and technologies.
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
Development of enterprise PHP web applications
Maintenance of existing enterprise web applications
Design and analysis of MySQL tables, queries, and stored procedures
Primary responsibility is back end development, but applicants must have some front end experience
Ability to work independently in addition to collaborative work on large projects with team members, including users, administrators, designers, and other developers
On-call 24/7 in a "highly available" environment
Qualifications:
Willingness to learn new and emerging technologies
Experience with MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Advanced knowledge of n-tier web architecture
Experience with version control systems
Experience with the following products is a plus: Subversion, JIRA, Smarty, Memcache, Prototype, and ImageMagick
Team player with a positive attitude who enjoys working with others
Strategic thinker with analytical and operational skills
Goal-oriented person with high personal drive, integrity and energy
BS in Computer Science or related field preferred
2 or more years of professional experience with PHP
