Multimedia designer — The Deseret News is looking for an ONLINE Multimedia Designer (FLASH, FIREWORKS, ILLUSTRATOR, ETC) to help design and develop all manner of interactive advertising, web sites, animations, and other complex visual communication products.
Requirements: — Bachelors degree in graphic design and/or multimedia design. Applicant must have experience in Macromedia Flash and authoring/programming with Actionscript. A portfolio of two to three products will be required from applicants considered for this position. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to work and interface with customers, coworkers, and management. Candidates should have knowledge of multimedia production tools and methodology, and a strong technical aptitude to quickly learn new software and hardware. Starting salaries are competitive and depend on qualifications and experience.

Online Community Manager — We're looking for an Online Community Manager with a dynamic personality, great leadership and organization skills. This person will be a manager of all aspects day-to-day community life on DeseretNews.com, including setting tone, enforcing rules, managing remote community contributors. This person will also participate in product development for new community initiatives.
A good fit for this position would be someone who has worked in public relations. Experience working for or with city governments would be a bonus.
Responsibilities
Recruit, motivate and manage a team of community leaders who work remotely or on site
Pursue initiatives to welcome and engage readers in our online community, influencing product development to suit the community needs of readers today
Establish and enforce standards respect and helpfulness in our community, interact directly with members to promote good feeling and settle disputes gracefully
Interact with editorial to promote integration between content and community
Become an expert of local goings-on and community-oriented issues and understand city government, PTA, arts council, etc.
Qualifications for position
Online experience and social media is a must
Bachelor's degree required (Business or Communications degree would be desirable)
Experience working with community leaders or with PR
Well organized and experience with project management and multitasking
Understanding and utilization of social media
Experience moderating group discussions is a plus
Specific skills required
Friendliness and diplomacy are good character traits for this job
Good sense of decorum and brand appropriateness
Success at establishing rules and policies to create team productiveness and community good-feeling
Clear and effective writing and/or editing skills
Strong sense of product ownership and pride in work
