First run in 1970, the Deseret News Marathon is the oldest road race in Utah and the 4th oldest marathon west of the continental divide. The marathon follows the path the Utah pioneers traveled when they first entered the valley. This event is truly a part of Utah’s heritage!
The Deseret News marathon is the first of its kind in Utah and the only race that traces the path of the Mormon Pioneers into the valley on July 24, 1847. It's a beautiful and challenging Boston-qualifying course that finishes in front of the best crowd in the state.
The Deseret News half marathon is a USATF certified course that welcomes runners looking for a fast time. Runners will sail down Emigration Canyon along a downhill course that follows the historic pioneer trail and ends along the parade route.
Established in 1983, the 10K is the fastest and most competitive in the state of Utah. Its downhill course and incredible finish line support make it a race to remember. Round up some friends and take advantage of our team discount.
Now a timed race for all participants, our 5K is a great start to your Pioneer Day celebration. Whether you choose to run or walk, bring the entire family and feel the energy and excitement down the parade route.
