Rachael Howells named her flower shop "Roots" for obvious reasons. Coco Warner has the story.
"And I picked that name, and I don't know why, but I did," Howells says.
She's almost regretting the choice now. Normally for Valentines Day employees at Roots are busy preparing flowers, not fielding phonecalls.
"The phone calls started last week, roughly. And especially after Opening Ceremonies we had crazy calls, people leaving messages, people coming down here, people calling at all hours of the night.. two o'clock in the morning. I mean, it was just crazy," Howells says.
So many calls, the shop is now using its fax line for flower orders and the main phone line to tell people to stop calling if they're looking for berets.
"You have reached Roots the flower shop. If you are looking for Roots of Canada the clothing company, you need to call information and ask for Roots of Canada," the answering machine says.
So to review, if you're looking for berets, go to Roots the clothing store. For flowers, go to Roots the florist.
At least the Olympics will be over by Mothers' Day.
