Curling club is too hot

OGDEN — In the past few years, only some 50 people had joined the Ogden Curling Club. Then came Salt Lake 2002. On March 5, 424 people signed up to curl for the evening during the club's open house. Only 300 could be accommodated during the three 40-minute sessions, said club president Iain Hueton.
"Prospective curlers drove from as far as Provo; Rexburg, Idaho; and all over Salt Lake, Davis and Weber counties to try the one winter Olympic sport that anyone can play," he said. "Everyone from kids to grandparents enjoyed the excitement, the free food and best of all, the chance to chuck big rocks indoors."
Hueton said all 48 spots in the Tuesday night spring curling league are already full, and that discussions are underway to establish a beginner league and introductory clinic.
The club will add a series of summer clinics and leagues based on demand. For information, send an E-mail to ogdenrocks@yahoo.com or phone 801-782-CURL.
