Skating union will hear evidence in April

The International Skating Union on Friday announced it will convene a council meeting in April to hear evidence and make a decision regarding allegations made during the Olympic pairs event.
"At its meeting held in Salt Lake City on Feb. 22, 2002, the ISU council considered the report of the ad hoc investigating commission concerning the accusations made against the judge, Ms. Marie Le Gougne and against the council member, Mr. Didier Gailhaguet," the ISU said in a statement.
Le Gougne became the focal point of allegations that the pairs competition had been rigged after she allegedly said she had been pressured to vote for Russians Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze over Canadians Jamie Sale and David Pelletier.
Acting on the recommendation of the ISU, the International Olympic Committee awarded a second gold medal to the Canadians.
