Cauldron Pictures

Keith McCord
KSL-TV

Media, visitors, and residents all seem to be taking a lot of pictures. Keith McCord reports from the spot that's probably the most photographed.
It's probably no surpise to anyone, but the Cauldron at Olympic Stadium is the number one photo-op.

If you try to drive down 5th South just outside the stadium, slow down. There are a lot of people there!
Welcome to Utah's most popular tourist attraction. Temporary as it may be, the Olympic Cauldron is definitely a "must-see".
And, you definitely have to get your picture taken in front of it!
Day or night, rain or shine, people come by the carloads just to see the flame. Some don't even get out. They'll roll down the window, click off a shot, and drive on.
These photo ops are definitely a family affair.
Mike Lindhardt of Smithfield, Utah, says he made a special trip just to see it. "We brought all the kids down, and took their picture," he says.
Group shots. Individual shots. Shots with grandma.
Expensive cameras. Cheap cameras. Video cameras.
A sure way to get your group on television — ask the reporter to pose with you!
Parking is kind of a nightmare, although the cops are letting you stop in the right lane on the north side of the street. Just be quick and expect bumper to bumper traffic.
When you come to the cauldron, you don't just take a picture of it. Sometimes people like to pose with the cauldron in their hand.
kidding! It's a pretty popular pose.
So load up the car, grab your camera, and bring down the kids.
The flame will be extinguished Sunday night!
Lindhardt says, "We've watched it all month on tv, and it's different in person. You've got to see it."
Photos at the Cauldron are popular at all Olympic cities. News Specialist John Daley, who was in Sydney in 2000, said it was wild there too.
