Bradbury still big, fun topic

One day later, people are still talking about the surprise finish in Saturday night's speedskating event.
In announcing the day's medalists at the Olympic Medals Plaza Sunday night, comedienne and celebrity emcee Caroline Rhea poked fun at gold medalist Steven Bradbury, who came from behind to win after the field leading the 1000-meter event crashed.
"It turns out the Australian, Steve Bradbury, won everything today and he hadn't even entered," Rhea said.
In a break from the norm, Team Finland picked up its gold medal at the Medals Plaza wearing slacks, sports coats and ties. Athletes traditionally appear at the medals ceremonies in winter wear — ski pants, down coats, warm hats and gloves.
The medals awarded Sunday night were:

  • Nordic combined, team 4x5K relay: Gold, Finland; silver, Germany; bronze, Austria.

  • Cross country skiing, men's 4x10-meter relay: Gold, Norway; silver, Italy; bronze, Germany.

  • Alpine skiing, ladies' super-G: Gold, Daniela Ceccarelli, Italy; silver, Janica Kostelic, Croatia; bronze, Karen Putzer, Italy.
The Grammy-award nominated band Train finished off the night playing an hour-long concert to a packed house.
