Wadsworth to ski in relay
SOLDIER HOLLOW A few weeks ago, Justin Wadsworth's position on the U.S. men's cross country 4x10K relay team seemed certain.
Then the nation's top cross country skier came down with a head cold that forced him to pull out of his favorite race and question his place on the relay team.
Those questions have been answered Wadsworth's health has returned, and he will ski the third leg of today's relay at Soldier Hollow.
John Bauer will lead off the first of two classic legs Kris Freeman will ski the second and Wadsworth and Carl Swenson will ski the last two freestyle legs.
Bauer and Freeman already have two top 25 finishes, and Wadsworth and Swenson are both experienced Olympians.
Head coach Christer Skog hopes to better the best Olympic relay result of 6th in 1976.
"If everything goes our way, I expect this team to surprise some people," he said.
Norway is favored to win the race.
