A day in the life of a biathloner
Andrea Nahrgang's day, from dawn to dusk, is devoted to training. "I'm not training all day, but everything I do during the day is part of the training process," she said.
6:30 a.m.: Wake up and go for a 20-minute run. The run isn't training. It's to give your body a jump start, wake it up, get your metabolism going, she said.
Post-run: Stretching exercises and breakfast.
8 a.m.: Head to the venue (she lives near Soldier Hollow) for two- to three-hours of rigorous training in cross-country skiing and shooting.
Return home for lunch.
Early afternoon: Rest. "There's like a three-hour block in the afternoon where I have to be restful. I usually read or take a nap. I may get up and dry-fire my rifle."
Afternoon: Second training session at the venue, about 1 1/2 hours.
Early evening: Return home for dinner.
8:30: Lights out.
