"Today's Postcard: Splat"
By George Vecsey

The Delta Center is poorly constructed for figure skating — embarrassingly so. Some fans show up with tickets costing in triple digits (the Jack Nicholson seats, Mitt Romney calls them) only to discover the floor is so low that they cannot see certain corners of the ice. Charming.

"Game at the Games Is Guessing Romney's Future"
By Kate Zernike

"What will Mitt do next?" has become an Olympic event of its own here, and even the average pin-trading volunteer seems to have an opinion. Romney himself does little to dispel the speculation — he will say only that he is looking for a race he can win and that he will not return to his business.
"Mitt will be a golden boy after the Olympics," said Rob Gray, a political consultant in Boston who has ties to the Bush administration. "Politically, or however you want to look at it, he took on corruption, turned around a major financial deficit, is on the verge of pulling off a huge international event, and he did it all as a volunteer, out of duty to his country. Any novice political consultant could write a blockbuster 30-second ad based on that."

"Sale and Pelletier refuse to criticize judges"
By Darren Yourk

Canadian chef de mission Sally Rehorick, a member of Skate Canada and a long-time skating judge, told CBC she greeted the judges' decision with "total disbelief."
"I could not believe it," she told CBC. "I was totally in shock.
"After Jamie and David skated, of course I was thrilled, and I thought it's not even a difficult call to make. It's an easy decision to make.
"When it flashed up that it was second, it was a kick to the stomach. There's no doubt about it, it was the wrong decision."
Rehorick said she knows all of the judges involved in the controversy and that they are all competent.
"We are going to be asking the ISU to take a look at what happened, and I believe Skate Canada is going to do the same thing," she said. "We're very, very concerned.
"The credibility of our sport is definitely at issue here, and we can't stand by and allow this to happen."
