Keith McCord shows us what the Olympic medals looked like before they were hanging around the athletes' necks.
We've seen how the finished products look, and these designs are perhaps the most unusual ever made for the Olympics. But we thought you'd like to see how they were actually made.
Work on the 800-plus medals began months ago, and it was a complicated process!

These will probably be the most unique Olympic medals ever produced. And the medal maker was the O.C. Tanner Company.
Video West Productions documented the process in a 15-minute video. The presentation is shown to clients and visitors at the company headquarters.
The video is narrated by Olympic Gold Medalist, Peggy Fleming.
"Designed in the shape of a river rock, like those found in the magnificent mountain streams of Utah, each of the more than 800 victory medals is slightly different."
So here's how they do it!
