Tuesday Games traffic heavybut not unbearable
Black Tuesday turned out not so bleak after all.
With all but one Olympic venue open, traffic was heavy today as expected, but motorists were patient and they left early, as advised.
However, all of you in the driver's seat could recruit a few more passengers as in carpool.
"We saw some pretty heavy traffic with back-ups of two to three miles in Parleys Canyon about 7:30 a.m., but considering this is the biggest day of the Olympics as far as spectators go, with (an anticipated) 160,000 people . . . we did really well," said Utah Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Hudachko. "Kimball's Junction could have gone a bit more smoothly this morning with more people in less cars, but we do think people are getting the word that it's best to leave early."
Confirmed Doug McCleve, spokesman for the Utah Highway Patrol: "From what I'm getting from troopers in the field is that things are going extremely well trafficwise."
