SLAP SHOTS: The frazzled Slovakians were without Ziggy Palffy and several other NHL standouts on Sunday, and were eliminated from the final round with their 6-6 tie . . . Austria, 0-2, is playing for pride.
GERMANY vs. LATVIA

SLAP SHOTS: After shocking Slovakia Saturday 3-0, the Germans were almost shocked themselves but overcame Austria 3-2 Sunday to nearly clinch a spot in the quarterfinals . . . Latvia pulled off an even more shocking tie with Slovakia . . . Winner moves on the next round.
