Panel won't hear plea from PETA
An international sports arbitration panel said it won't hear an application filed by a group opposed to the Olympic rodeo.
On Friday the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) turned down a request from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) that asked it to cancel the rodeo or at least order it not to be billed as an Olympic event.
CAS said it has no jurisdiction to consider such an application and would not arbitrate the matter. It said the rodeo is not an Olympic sport but is instead part of the Olympic Arts Festival events and is therefore not governed by the Olympic Charter.
