NEVER IN A HUNDRED YEARS?
      With 1976 being the bicentennial year for the United States and the centennial year for the state of Colorado, Denver was a natural choice for the IOC to award the pic support, and Denver immediately withdraws as host of the 1976 Games.

SUBSTITUTE SITE
      In search of a replacement, the IOC turns to Innsbruck, Austria, which had hosted the Games only 12 years previously.
