Plans were underway Wednesday in Salt Lake City to lure the 1968 Winter Olympics to Utah.
Representatives of Ski Utah Associates discussed holding the Olympics in the Wasatch Range Wednesday with the U.S. Olympic Committee in New York City.
President of the Ski Utah group, Gene Donovan, taked via telephone with Lyman Bingham, executive director of the committee. Donovan was advised of officials procedure in requesting the Olympics.
Ski Utah Associates, an organization of skiers and businessmen interested in promoting the Wasatch Range, called New York City after being encouraged by Chelton Leonard, sports technical director of the 1960 Winter Olympics. Leonard, who was in Salt Lake City Wednesday, said he thought Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Range were "naturals" for the Olympics.
Deadline is Sept. 15 for applications to host the next Winter Olympics, New York committee officials said.
