REVISING THE CALENDAR
The Lillehammer Games come just two years after the Albertville Games, with the IOC voting in 1986 to change the every-fourth-year format so that the Summer and Winter Olympics would be held in different years. The move to alternate the Summer and Winter Games two years helps increase television revenues.
