Montillet shakes blues and her opponents
A week before the Olympics began, Carole Montillet of France took a week-long vacation to San Diego to "gather herself together."
Street done with racing, not skiing
It was not a storybook ending to the career of Picabo Street. For whatever reason slow snow, a bad start, hesitation in a turn, stepping too hard on an edge or even standing up too soon before a turn Street finished well out of the medal running in Tuesday's oft-delayed women's downhill at Snowbasin.

Bode Miller fell in the downhill portion of the combined event and slipped in the slalom, but still managed to break an eight-year Olympic medal drought by U.S. men skiers with a dramatic final run.
