Sept. 23-24: WHAT MATTERS MOST TO UTAH
This educational section draws attention to issues important to the people of Utah. How important is education, energy, employment, health care, etc. This publication will give you answers as well as important and educational information.
Sept. 30-Oct. 1: ROAD TO THE WHITE HOUSE
This educational section sponsored by the League of Women Voters follows the election process from nomination to inauguration.
Nov. 18-19: FOOD, LAND AND PEOPLE, WORKING WITH NATURE
Explore the geography, science and history of Utah's natural resources. Learn about the people and the emerging technologies they use to care for the land and water as they work with nature. Investigate watersheds, water quality, airsheds, sustainable agriculture and how resources are managed. Learn about the dependence and interaction between people and natural resources (rangeland, wildlife, wilderness, soil, water and air). Choose whether you'd like this section delivered on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Dec. 9-10: SEASON OF GIVING
This educational section, published during the Christmas season reminds readers of the importance of giving and how giving can make a positive difference in the lives of people. This publication also suggests ways of giving and agencies concerned with assisting others and need a variety of donations to help those needing it.
Dec. 16-17: THE YEAR IN REVIEW
Many things happened in 2008. This educational section reviews many of them using photographs to help recall the events and bring back the memories.
Jan. 20-21: UTAH JAZZ TEACH FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
This educational section covers vital information about money and how to save, use, protect and invest it. Financial information can prevent financial disaster especially for young people. Perfect to use in the classroom and then send home with students. The educational section includes current information, statistics and appropriate student activities. Can be ordered Tuesday or Wednesday.
Feb. 10-11: HEART HEALTH
This education insert sponsored by the American Heart Society provides excellent information about heart disease and stroke. It includes risk factors and how nutrition and exercise can reduce the chances for heart attack and stroke.
March 17-18: MAKE A PLAN, EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
This educational insert introduces many ways that families can prepare for disasters. Make a plan, get a kit and be informed. This insert is filled with valuable information to help people prepare for emergency situations.
March 31-April 1: CAREERS AND CAREER PREPARATION
From a very young age, everyone tries to determine what the future holds. Children dream about what they will be when they grow up. Certain courses are selected in school to help prepare for desired careers. This educational insert discusses many careers and what it takes to be involved in them.
April 21-22: BANK ON IT/FOCUS ON FINANCES
This educational insert gives students information on how to save money, earn money and make money grow. It offers practical and fun lessons in financial literacy. Helps meet objectives for Utah State financial literacy graduation requirements
April 28-29: PRESERVATION, UTAH'S WETLANDS
Wetlands are ecosystems that have water at some point during the year, which creates a unique environment with hydric soils and specially adapted plants and animals. This educational section explores both plant and animal life associated with Utah's wetlands
May 12-13: MEETING THE CHALLENGES, UNDERAGE DRINKING
This educational insert helps students and their families become aware of the many way to cope with the temptations and challenges of underage drinking. It also provides helps for families and information on how the brain and other body systems are affected by alcohol.
May 19-20: READ WITH A CHILD SUMMER READING
Research about early childhood education repeatedly demonstrates that reading to a child has a ripple effect that positively impacts the child, the family, the schools and society as a whole.
