Reader comments: Ghost Ship
MATT MOVIES | Sept. 30, 2003
I liked the look of Ghost ship, very polished & i
particularly liked the ripple reflection effect throughout
the movie. The gruesome scene at the start was too
excessive & more disgusting than scary. The scares in the
movie thereafter are not very scary at all & the use of
dead 'rubber' bodies, heads floating around in the water
in various 'shock' scenes remind me of Jaws movies.
Another problem is the music in the movie, it does little
to add to the suspense, for example in the opening there's
this 'love boat' type theme which sounds so stupid, then
there's some punk rock 3/4 through which sounded like it
came straight from the fast & the furious - in this type
of movie, it's out of place. The characters were pretty
dull too because i've seen them all b4 in countless other
movies but for all it's shortcomings, i can't help but
like Ghost Ship because it looks good. A bit like a
Ferrari Testarossa without an engine. I only wish the
italian singer in that tight red dress had more screen
time cos she waz hot.
