Reader comments: Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever

This movie was the dumbest movie i have seen all year,
ok "how high" was dumber. Should have known, it does have
anotonio banderas in it, that speaks for itself. i love
lucy lui, but this just sucked. The plot was stupid. You
never even get the whole story. Lucy was cool, she beat up
people, that was cool. That was it. Don't even waste your
$1 for it.

My one star is only for getting to see Lucy smack people
around. This is one of the most boring action flicks I
have ever seen, mainly because all of the action is
pointless and totally predictable (predictably stupid).
The stupid story is outdone only by the banal and stilted
dialogue. Ugh.

I thought the movie was very entertaining, of course a
little far fetched but it keeps your attention. A lot of
cool special effects along with some good Martial Arts,
they feature Modern Arnis which you don't see in a lot of
movies. Some good car chase scenes and lots of explosive
action. If you like action movies, you will enjoy this.

Okay, maybe I'm being generous with the rating,
but "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever" has so much action and
impressive stunts, it's easy to forgive most of it's short
comings. Notice I said most of. The plot suffers the most
from some slightly choppy editing, but I think the film
makers knew it was just an excuse for action anyway. What
really matters here is the action, and the characters.
What's surprising is how much we are willing to go through,
just to see them shine at what they do best: showing off
their martial arts skills.
