This was the worst movie i have ever seen. the character
were bad actors and even though it was based on a real
story it was well just plain bad!!!

October Sky has been one of the top movies that I have ever
seen. The acting was fantastic; I felt as though I was
watching a scene from someone's life, not actors at work.
I
wish there were more movies "out there" that affected me so
greatly!

The greatest movie I've ever seen. The conflict keeps the
story progressing and moves the viewers, inspiring us to
press forward with our own struggles in our daily lives.
One of the few movies that has ever captivated me and found
it hard to realize I was in a theater when credits came up
and the lights clicked on.

October Sky was one of the best movies I've seen in a
long time. Jake Gyllenhaal is such a cute actor. That movie
diserves all the awards their are in the world, because of
Jake Gyllenhaal.

October Sky is one of my favorite movies. It's a heart-
warming story with cool oldie tunes and cute guys. What
more could teenage girl want. It really is a sweet movie.

for my home library!!!
JON ROACH | Jun. 18, 1999
Outstanding entertainment. Excellent plot, great acting, a
real family movie

Don't listen to the critics. Go to the just of the movie
if you want to find out what it is about, usually about
three paragraphs down and then go see it if it looks
intresting to you. Make your own decisions and don't base
them all on a stupid cridic.

This was a superiorly crafted movie. This is the type
of movie that you always here referred to as "I wish they
would make more movies like that.". Not only was the story
superb, and the performances very good, but the technical
aspects of the movie were a joy to watch. If there is ANY
movie you go see (including Phantom Menace), SEE THIS
MOVIE!!!

I really absolutley loved this movie. I thought it had a
great point and had a wonderful story. Especially because
it was a true story. I think it should be rated G because
there is nothing wrong with it.

GREAT MOVIE. Finding himself and becoming a man of his own
was demonstrated by this young wannabe astronaut. The
interactions between all relationships in the movie were so
normal and came to some healthy conclusion. As a parent I
would encourge my kids to see this movie as a good
demonstration of normal growing up needs. Also, wouldn't it
be nice if all kids had a hope, dream, or desire like this
one did. It would keep more kids busy and out of trouble
and we might get more dedicated, useful citizens in our
future.

I totally enjoyed this movie. It is wonderful
entertainment. Although there are several places that
sleeze and "real" language (read profanity) could have been
added. The producers chose to keep it clean, funny and
real.
As to the comments about where to find a good critic -- if
you are looking for a critic that agrees with you all the
time -- good luck. You better start writing. A good critic
is one who is honest, consistent and lets us know why they
formed an opinion about a flim. Read many reviews and many
critics. You will be able learn their tendancies and
preferences, then make your own decision.

Bravo!

This is one of the best movies I have seen recently. The
story of a small mining town and its humble people and a
young man's dream to help America catch up to the Russians
in space, is realistic, funny, and touching. The audience
didn't stop laughing throughout the showing. But it is
more than a humorous movie; it deals with a motivated boy's
strained relationship with his hard, depressed father, and
the the acting between the two makes it very genuine. The
supporting actors are excellent as well, as young Homer
Hickham's partners in rocketry. All ages will enjoy this
movie and it is suprisingly different from what the
trailers make it out to be--a boring movie about small town
kids and their capers. See it once and you'll want to see
it again.
IKE J MAY | Feb. 27, 1999
Not only was this a movie based on real life story, but it
was a "good" real life story. 2+ hours of a daydream that
I wished wouldn't end. Could have done without the
swearing.
JULS | Feb. 25, 1999
Loved the show!!! Why don't we have more of this kind?
Nothing sleazy, nothing crazy -- just good entertainment --
and true for the most part.

My answer to the guy who was asking where one goes to get a
review in this town is this. Use the web because we do not
have a decent critic the people can trust and I doubt he
reads these posts (if he can read at all) otherwise he would
surely strive to perfect his craft or at least become
mediocre at it. I am likewise sure that Deseret news cares
very little about the complaints of the people as they
seemingly have done nothing to make any changes. Mark, you
did however make a good point though probably
unintentionally. We need TWO critics to balance each other
out and offer a wider variety of opinions rather than the
narrow minded and opinionated approach we get now. This
would do me little good however as I for one have
discontinued my paper service due to this problem among
others and only come here to check playing times and never
for a review.
MARK | Feb. 20, 1999
Regarding the post below. we did not mean to appear to be
bashing the film with the lack of stars as we have yet to
see it. Perhaps tonight if we can find a critic we can
trust. Where are Siskel & Ebert when we need them?
MARK | Feb. 20, 1999
Being new to town I did not know what to expect theater wise
in SLC. I have discovered some great theatres (Villa,Trolley
Corners)but I have also found the local film critic(s) to be
totally useless and usually at polar odds with myself and it
seems many others. Where does one go to get sound critical
reviews in this town?
