Reader comments: Zoolander

Are you kidding?! This is the ultimate college movie! I
loved it! Everyone I know loved it! Anyone who thinks this
movie wasn't good is either too old, or doesn't know
humor. Not every movie was made to be deep and win a
grammy, some were made to just be weird and funny. This is
one of those flicks.

Jeff Vice has long been my most trusted critic. I usually
find our tastes to be remarkably similar. However, Jeff,
you're way off base on this one. There were approximately
8 funny minutes in this movie (Stiller and Wilson together
are quite amusing but the scenes are few and far between)
but the rest just blew; this material should have remained
a skit. Come back to us, Jeff. Yes, the summer was
terrible for movies, but, even by comparison, Zoolander
falters. You're a better reviewer than this.

This is the most stupid movie I have ever seen! I heard it
was funny, but it was anything but that. Never in my life
have I been so disappointed or disgusted by a movie like
this. I would rather watch anything else, and I was ver
angry that I even wasted my time on this time-waster.

This film did not have any redeeming qualities that could
be detected. Normally, with a movie of this nature there
will at least be some gag that works, a plot line that
keeps you interested or some piece of satire that seems
relevant. Nothing. A boring, lifeless protagonist
surrounded by supporting characters that neither add nor
embellish the story line.
If you're expecting to see Stiller's wit and character
development skills, you won't find it here. You would be
better served by going to the video store and renting
Something about Mary.
I'm surprised at Jeff Vice's review of this picture.
Normally, I can count on seeing a good film if he's given
it a good review. That's not my opinion this time.

More like 1 1/2 stars. A little bit of the Zoolander
character goes a long way. The supporting characters were
too silly. I think it would have worked better with the
supporting characters playing it a little more strait and
having the Z. character, by contrast, be off the wall.
Some scenes seemed out of context, just thrown in for
affect. As if the director/writer had some funny gags in
mind and tried to think of ways to fit them in the movie.

A complete load of crap all wrapped up in stupid.
HY BRADLEY | Sept. 29, 2001
Dear Jeff, I'm amazed that you liked this film, let alone
gave it ***. Did you only have time to copy someone elses
opinion? We walked out when the film was half through. We
got our money back. Such empty headed, drivel is a marvel
to come across. Sometimes I validate your opinion. This
time, you greatly disapointed me and my wife. You can do
better! You must do better if you want to be a credible
critic that I will read. Hy Bradley.

What a waste of good talent (Ben Stiller). This movie put
a person next to me asleep. If you don?t have anything
else to do go to the theater, buy a bag of popcorn take
your goodies outside the theater and eat it--before going
to this movie.
