When I was young I never knew anything that was being
filmed in this movie, but after I watched it again it has
tought me a lot. Sarafina acted well and I would like to
thank her and the writers and producers of this movie. I
will keep it for my kids to watch it too, which is 15
years to come. Its joyus and just incrediable.

I have no idea how people can appreciate the garbage that
was fed to them through out this entire movie. The
constanct dancing is in no way representative of the
stuggle that South African's went through. The amount of
sequences that I suffered through cheapened this movie to
the level of a Disney feel good story.

I enjoyed the movie very much. The actors were wonderful
and the plot was very well put together. I most enjoyed
the dance portions of the movie. I am very interested in
learning about those type of dance techiniques.

I think Sarafina is a great movie, no actually I know It Is
a great movie. It is very educative and reveals the truth
about what really took place during the days of apartheid.
I was 10 years old when I first watched Sarafina and I
still think that It is a good movie. More movies like this
should be made.

My opinion of the movie is, while used as a very
entertaining, but realistic eye opener. It was also very
americanized. I first saw the play in 1991 and was in awe
of the raw stage presence of each and every paricipant. I
think I was most impressed with the depth of emotion put
into what seemed to be the story of a life being viewed and
told in it's purest form. Through them, the tears and cries
of an opressed nation were there for me to experience. I
still remember the songs. I remember shaking Leliti's hand
and feeling her pain. She cried to see us as black
americans adore and admire her performance. That was the
highlight of my young life.

A brilliant and moving film. One to inspire and make you
think. Soundtrack also a real treat, it opened me up to the
delights of African music.

This review needs only one line, it was damn good.
REY BENAVIDEZ | Jul. 4, 1999
personally i would give this more than 5 stars. Good an we
complain we do not have enough freedom. my god that was
their own revolution. so many gave so much for the freedom
of so many. wow makes me feel sorry for the blacks who
live in the united states. but at the same time makes me
feel dissappointed in them as well. I mean after all they
have so much more freedom than the people in this movie an
they take it for granted. WOW!!!

I LOVED THE MOVIE SARAFINA. WE NEED MORE MOVIES ON THE STRUGGLES THE PEOPLE OF AFRICA SO THAT THE AFRICANS FROM AMERICA REALIZE THAT WE ARE NOT ALONE WITH THE STRUGGLE. WHEN I SAW THE MOVIE I CRIED. JUST TO THINK OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO MY AFRICAN PEOPLE HURTS MY HEART . ONE OF MY DREAMS WOULD BE TO BE ABLE TO TRAVEL TO AFRICA AND MEET THE CAST OF SARAFINA! AND OTHER PEOPLE STRUGGLING LIKE THEM.
FREEDOM IS COMING TOMMOROW

" Sarafina " was a great movie!!! When I watched it the
first time, I was only six. But now I'm thirteen, and I
cry every time I see the beatings. This movie was
brilliant! I also loved the dancing and the African songs.
Keep up the good work!! Jasmine :0)
